If roads going to be your thing get a road bike. I run an Anthem XC cross country mtb and as hard a tire pressure you run, you won't keep up with crew on a road bike as the gearing is very different.

On XC I'd top out at about 35-40kph. Decent road bike gearing you should see that speed on middle gearings. Like comparing a 4WD with rcomps up against your WRX.

I have same same from FOX racing. Very comfortable for long ride with usual padding for butt etc but look like shorts.
