It is cold at the moment and due to that simple science tells us that the air is more dense at lower temperatures. Your turbo is just working that little bit better and forcing more air into the motor. It's a wonder your car hasn't thrown a CEL (check engine light) or some other error code. My advice would be to turn have the car retuned while the weather is still cold and in the mean time don't mash the throttle flat and wonder why it's making all sorts of weird and wonderful noises :-)
