hrmmm let's see...

"the US is going down the toilet" - I'm not pro-American in any way but if the Chinese were to have an all out war agaisnt the United States (although unlikely with both countries possessing N-weapons), and assuming conventional weapons were used, they'd be obliterated fairly quickly. It's not population or the size of ur army that wins wars, it's technology, and more importantly, air superiority. As fas as I know, the Chinese are flying outdated Russian aircraft that are a relic of the former USSR's past. Migs will easily be destroyed by the current crop of US fighters, regardless of their numbers, of which the air force is sizeably smaller than the USA's in any case. Please correct me if i'm wrong. China cannot fight beyond its homeland and its Navy is piss poor as well.

The economic growth 'may' be a reflection of country's military strength in the future, but is by no means the sole indicator. Some of the riches countries in the world field a shit military machine. China is still extremely backward and has many more years to catch up on a technological scale, as you would agree. Then the military has to catch up.

China's economy is valued at around $2 tril, even at an astounding growth rate of 10% per year EVERY yr... it will be a VERY long time before it catches up to America's economy @ $12ish tril. do tha math yourself. I'm not denying it won't catch, because one day it may do decades from now, but it's a long way away yet, and all we hear in Australia's media is the strength of China's economy since our mining economy is riding theirs.

And what makes you think the Chinese will ally with Australia in the first place?. We supply them iron ore dude. We don't owe them anything nor do they us. There is no military history between the two countries nor is there any other strong political ties. Heck, their basic political ideology contrasts with ours, so I don't see that as being a valid argument at all.

and dude.. i'm not sure that u said it in jest, but being half chinese is NOT going to save you. u have no identity and ur parents or foreparents fled that country!!!. so what's with the chinese pryde over americanism?
