Default Subaru Sets New Sales Record

Subaru achieved a new sales record of 47,018 vehicles in 2016, according to official VFACTS results released today – the brand’s 17th record in the last 19 years.

Subaru sales growth of 7.8% in 2016 compared to overall industry growth of just 2.0%.

The Sports Utility Vehicle models performed particularly strongly, with Outback achieving a new annual record of 12,207, up 11.7% for the year; and Forester the brand’s best-seller with 13,407 sales, up 11.5%. XV sales of 8290 were also up 15.7%.

Order take for new generation Impreza has been very strong and deliveries of 765 in December point towards a healthy order bank. In December 2016 customers committed to the small car, which is receiving rave reviews.

Colin Christie, Subaru Australia Managing Director, said: “Subaru strongly out-performed the market in 2016 on the back of a range that promises even more this year.

“The reception for new Impreza is outstanding, Levorg is carving out a great new niche for us in the performance wagon arena and we have new generation XV pending mid-year.

“It’s quite amazing to see current XV achieving solid growth last year, which is hugely encouraging for the next generation car.

“Our first month of revised BRZ also gave this great sports coupe a huge lift, with 82 sales.”
