Power Fc and E85 which injectors
Hi all..
I'm currently in the process of doing a Vf34P20 E85 conversion for my Subaru gc8.. I have purchased a set of 1000cc Deutschwerks Side Feed injectors for this purpose. But haven't opened the box as yet because I have heard some disturbing things about the DW 1000c SF injectors.. The main issue is that I've heard the power Fc has troubles tuning injectors over 1000cc especially down low and at idle... I hear this is not an issue with 850cc injectors or less in SIDE feed form.. See the following threads.. Dolla Dolla Build, Y'all - Subaru Legacy Forums The main guts of this is the following quote.. From post #5 No need to go top feed conversion until you get >850cc, and for a VF52 potential upgrade (what you stated in a subsequent post), 850s are fine even on E85 tunes, according to tuners I've discussed this with (although my questions were based on a 16G which needs a tad more injector than the VF52 - all other things equal). DW side feed injectors are fine at those levels as well. The bad rap they have is for 1000cc side feed and up due to problems getting idle dialed. >1000cc should be top feed anyways due to efficiency. I've heard about Cobb in PDX having an issue with them, but I know a lot of people have had years of success with DW injectors without issue. I don't see the need for giant injectors in your application at all, nor a top feed conversion. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the DW 1000 side feeds and tune ability on the poer fc... Also since I'm only aiming for 250kw ATW should I change to DW 850cc SIDE FEED or go the whole hog and do a top feed conversion with ID 1000cc I have heard only good things about ID injectors.. It's not a limitation of the power FC.
It's the low duty cycle response of large injectors - a good tuner knows how to sort it, a shit one blames poor idle on injector choice. I run 850cc side feeds - no tuning issues & no idle issues. why go E85 for only 335hp at the hubs? Your only running a VF34 with a P20 - I run the vf34/P18 @ 1.6 bar for 312Hp at the hubs on bp98.

As above, the ECU is not the limitation. I used to run ID2000's on my PFC on PULP98 & it idled fine (after a bit of tweaking)

Interesting..
So should i swap my DW 1000cc for 850cc or keep what ive got? My tuner tells me that cold starts will be better on the 850cc..and hes telling me to swap my 1000cc for 850's If i keep the 1000cc are there any tricks with the PFcs to help the low rpm tuneability? Rossco.. 228kw ATW is impresssive stuff esp on BP98 .....And all on a VF34P18..!! Hmm i wonder what im doing wrong maybe i should just do the tune on the p18. Im going E85 bc i cant get over 112MPH on the track. My subie guys tell me a P20 will get another 20kw and the E85 tune approx another 30kw.. so roughly 250kw ATW.. But it seems your doing this on 98 and a p18... what is missing in my setup? The side feeds your running are they DW, Sard? cheers and thanks in advance Last edited by lemon355; 07-09-2014 at 01:05 AM. |

I have Brian Crower 272 cams...... That's the difference.
Is your motor built or stock? If built what's inside it? Your tuner needs to adjust the injector lag times to get the idle sweet. Brand of injector is irrelevant.

Power Fc and E85
I do NOT think that the injectors will be a problem - as others have commented
USE the ones you have as if you do turn the turbo size up you may need them I have been running a V1-2 Power FC 2000 cc injectors TD06 SL2 20G Nissan Airflow meter Z32 , removed the idle control valve 17lbs boost getting 385whp - 525 nm at the wheels It has cams/ springs and forged pistons all the rest stock All on E85 3 years It idle a little inconsistent but ok this is a track car so not so important most of my troubles have been with the Z32 and the Power FC fuel pump driver |

Sorry for the late reply fellas..been busy at work..
Engine is an unopened Ej207 open deck block. I have taled to numerous people and it seems the VF34P20 combo even on E85 will be too laggy for me.. So where to from here??? In the quest for more power.. It seems I've reached a limit... Can I run the 272 cams on my engine as is or will I need better rods pistons and a balanced bottom end to make it get to 8000rpm safely.. Is there a milder cam that brings peak tq power to the safe rev limit of 7k 7.5k? Nitrous? Small shot of course. 20 to 50 HP? Bigger turbo Blousch 20G 8cm as suggested by MSR? Whichever way I go I want to be in the safe area for my PPg helical syncho box (about 400-450 flywheel HP... Any suggestions are appreciated.... Regards pk |

Currently running a vf34-p20 on my unopened Wrx 205 motor yes there is a bit of lag but not that much.
