1997 WRX to Power FC - Help Wanted
Hi ppls,
I brought a secondhand PowerFC for my son's 1997 WRX but trying to find info on the wire swap. I have searched for 2 hours now and not having much luck. I'm sure it's just me and not getting the search words right, as I'm finding info on 99/00 stuff but these appear to have different plugs to my son's car. I'm wondering if someone has the info that we need to install this PowerFC to this WRX which has 3 yellow plugs. Thanks in advance |
Does the 97 need the wire swap?
Have you tried to fire it up with out changing anything? the 99/00 wire swap is only needed because the 99/00 WRX has a factory imobiliser & the STi doesn't - the wrx ecu has the cam & crank angle sensor inputs to the ecu swapped compared to the STI ecu |
Thanks Rossco. After reading your response, I tried to run the car with the PowerFC plugged in and when I turn the ignition on, I get a continuous clicking sound (relay??) coming from behind the driver's side dash. The Radiator fans are also on and I know the car hasn't ran today, so temp is cold. There is also no CEL or Fuel Pump priming sound and the car does not start.
This car does have a factory key immobiliser fitted. |
I found your required pin swaps:
Plug B136 - swap 8 & 10 (should be red & white with silver fleck wires) cam & crank sensor signals Plug B137 - move 17 to 7 (light green/blue wire) fuel pump feed |
Once again, thanks Rossco, I will check this today.
Do you have a diagram of these B136 and B137 plugs? |
Not on hand sorry, a google search should turn up something though
|
Thanks Rossco. I found a Wiring Diagram online, so I'll try the wire swap today.
Can you think of any reason there was a clicking sound and fans on? or is this normal when someone fits a PowerFC without changing the wiring? |
Because of confused ecu - Wiring swaps
