STI325V6 knows their stuff
Default Autronic SM4

Hi All,

I am after some honest feedback from people who have the Autronic on their Subaru WRX or STI...

What are they like to drive eg smooth, cold start, idle and power gains over the standard ECU.

I ask as I have purchased one of these, I know I should have asked first but the price was too good to pass up!!

There are a few tuners out there that can install and tune the Autronic, can anyone provide feedback on a tuner they used and how was their service etc.

cheers

Here are my comments from this thread ---> http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/other-ecu-discussion/12230-comparo.html

"Yep - Ecutek custom tune vs Autronic SM4 - same car, same mods, same tuner, same dyno, same day - SM4 gained extra power & torque over the entire rev range (no extra boost, no leaner AFR's, etc). It's been 6 months+ with the SM4 - car has started 'every time', idles perfectly, has 'never' stalled, a/c worked a treat over summer - couldn't be happier.

Cons - fuel economy ain't as good as before, but that's a small whinge.

I've still got the Ecutek ecu in a box, tuned & ready to plug-in, in case I want to go for a down south holiday & want some better fuel economy on longer highway trips or in case the SM4 shits itself."

It's now 8+ months and still happy as a pig in shit.

Been running one for over a year now and couldn't be happier. As Fred said, fuel economy aint the greatest, 320-330km between fills, but it's been 100% reliable.

I had mine tuned by Lane at Race Torque.

Likewise with both above, however had nothing but problems with it when it was tuned by the original tuner who shall remain nameless, yet once Leigh got onto it it goes beautifully

Cant recommend the SM4 enough, do it!

Isn't it amazing how the right tuner can make all the difference....really annoys me that there are pr!cks out there who think they can tune cars when all they really know how to do is up the boost. I could go on but I won't cause this is going OT.

Sorry ....end rant/

I'm not running an SM4, but my Autronic SMC (as tuned by Leigh) has been pretty good aswell. Get close to 400klms per tank after the new injectors got fitted, closer to 450 before. Idles perfect, never had any issues, air con works. Seems pretty good to me, only issue is it won't do AVCS, but i guess thats where the SM4 comes in handy.

I had a SMC in my old WRX - the SM4 is way better, especially day to day driveability, starts, etc.
