American Dave' Ride Blogography
I happened to glance at the odometer this morning and noted that I am just about to turnover the 40,000 km mark. I have owned this car since new on June 1, 2007 and I am pleased to report that the car has never caused me one problem. While you hear plenty of horror stories from Subaru owners about big end, ringland failures etc. I am happy to report this is one owner who has nothing but praise for his car.
I have done a fair number of mods and tuning to it to date and have had NO issues to date. It drinks a bit of oil but nothing extreme and while its not the most fuel efficient car on the road at 13 ltrs / 100 it still makes me smile. I have another 7 months of the lease remaining for this car and my plans involve buying out the lease on it and retaining it to enjoy and do some more serious engine and snail mods down the track.

Well I bought the following last week:
2009 STI LONG RATIO SIX SPEED DCCD Box
Shifter/Gearboot and Knob
Modified Tail shaft and Matching Rear Diff
Plus Starter Motor and Clutch Fork
It does not come with a controller for the DCCD so I have purchased the DCCDPro controller on the advice of Doug at STechnic. He showed me this system in one of his clients cars last year. Does a much better job than the stock controller he tells me...should be fun times. http://dccdpro.com/zcart/index.php?main ... ducts_id=2
I have a number of mods planned to go on at the same time as the box upgrade...these include new BBK-M, PW CAI, Perrin Intake Pipe, new BOV plumbed back, some Cusco bracing for the steering rack and rear.
Once all of this is done then clearly it will be time to get the car on the dyno and re-tune.Posted 30-01-2012 at 08:42 AM by American Dave -

The update to the Foz is all parts purchased and collected for the 6MT DCCD gearbox transplant. I had to source a Clutch Plate Assembly and Brake Assembly plus master and slave cylinders to suit. I managed to pick up the lot from JWS in Wangara (big thanks John). I have a HD clutch and flywheel, and rear diff to go with along with a number of other parts but mostly importantly a genuine Subaru 6MT shift knob and boot.
At the same time the new BBK-M Turbo (TD05-18G) will go in along with a Perrin Inlet Pipe, Process West CAI, Turbosmart Kompact Plumback BOV. To top it off I hoping to get my new STI Front Seats installed and some Cusco bracing as well. Please dont bother or distract Doug and Damo at STechic next week LOL
Following week it will be off to ASG for more tuning and I am hoping 210 kw + atwPosted 01-03-2012 at 07:59 PM by American Dave -

In the mean time my mods are just about finished aside from new bigger alum radiator and gearbox oil cooler and a few other small cosmetic mods.
I am hoping to just enjoy the car rather than pump money into it. I have achieved 95% of what I had hoped now and goes like a shower of shit but very linear power delivery when doing WOT pulls. I took my mates Balsac and Impresiv for ride and both said the same things. It is very quiet off boost and pure porn when the happy foot can be used fully.
My focus and funds will be going toward building a new home for my family.
The old rental home is currently getting bowled over and building starts in 2 weeks.
