BALISTC's Big Brake Bonanza

Posted 10-11-2009 at 10:25 PM by BALISTC

As my car wasn't originally an STi, it didn't originally come fitted with Brembos.

The Subaru 4 pots were of course, just fine, but after everything else on the car has been fettled in some way or another, they just weren't cutting it anymore.

Keeping this in mind, I've been on the look out for some big brakes, for quite a while. The main factor was the price... brakes are usually VERY expensive. Brembo's were out of the question, because they wouldn't fit behind...

Two months to Motorvation 2010

Posted 10-11-2009 at 09:11 PM by tuna

Its two months to motorvation, between now and then I have to diagnose an engine fault in the RA, remove it, strip it and refit!

Never personally rebuilt an engine before, interesting times ahead.

Phone Calls 002

Posted 06-11-2009 at 10:23 AM by darkrex (The Ressurection of Darkrex)

Car doors sourced from Victoria.
Luckily enough they are in the same black colour, with windows, electrics and hinges.
Paid $100 for both.

Now I have to get them shipped to WA.

Been getting news from Mal that a nose cut with fenders, bumper and a 90% new Carbon Fibre bonnet, steel radiator = $2500 including the shipping over.

All I need now are lights.

Shouldn't be too hard. Tried calling around for a GX body as well. No...

Base dyno run

Posted 29-10-2009 at 11:16 PM by Rossco (Trials & Tribulations of Modding a version 6 STI)

Next came a Jap spec STI cluster (sourced through JWS) with the tach where it should be...In the centre!

The only problem was the odo was 25,000 km higher than the cluster I removed...DOH!!

It was at about this time the current power level was becoming........well boring!

The car was dyno'd at Tenagah and when it put down 212hp atw running stock boost.... Not too shabby for a 200,000km ej207!

The quest for more grunt had begun...
