50mm or 5cm without approval is more than enough for most - no arguments from me. Having said that it is still a petty issue compared to reducing crime etc..

thats guys narrowminded opinions are flawed left, right & centre
so i have a forester, removed the standard struts and springs and replaced with 03 sti inverted struts and some nice progressive rate springs, the car is about 90mm lower now, sits beautifully , handles so much better, is still 100mm clear to the lowest point under the car, now how the fuck does this make my car unsafe?, sf5 forester uses the gc8 chassis anyway so no mods needed, this guy is a joke |

I'm in the same boat as Chris and can imagine getting a permit will be a complete pain in the ass. They will simply say, why do you need it to be lowered more than 50mm . . . .

but i think all the traffic or roads pollies should be sacked, in favour of those who are not wankers and can enforce a law without putting some big hype on 'hoons' etc |

I have just re read the article. From what I read it states that any height mod needs a permit and permits will not be issued for cars any more than 50mm higher or lower than standard. So in Chris's case, using stock suspension from a different car as he has he is 90mm lower than stock. This would be nearly double the allowable limit.
Hopefully WA will not take this approach. |

Those who are 'against' this, did you read the article?
Approval will need to be sought for lowering or raising your car more than 5cm. 5cm = 50mm which is nearly 2 inches. That's a hell of a lot of drop. If you are lowering your car any more than that, you are severely changing the suspension geometry, which should require approval. They are also changing the raising height from 15cm to 5cm. Again to stop idiots just smashing in whatever they want which will drastically effect the suspension geometry.

From August 1, car owners will be limited to raising or lowering their suspension by no more than five centimetres, and all modifications will need approval from Roads and Traffic Authority engineers. |
