Same, when I was selling the Aurion I had it on for $24-25k to start with and had people offering $20-21k at max! FFS its not a crappy car, had a few people offer less that that and I told them where to stick it. Had a very good (now ex) family friend offer me $19k because thats all he could get, I said no but offered him a nice discount on the asking price....nup $19k take it or leave it....so I left it and he's been a prick ever since.

Your meant to look for a car you can afford.

Not look for a car and make the seller take what you've got.

Decided if I sell a car again it will be my price or no sale.
Totally agree dude.

Buy something you can afford, If the car was worth say 25k and we advertised it at 15k i wonder if they would try bargain you down again:rolleyes:
Being a Camry with small changes...yes it is crappy.

But it was immaculate, maintained, straight, powerful, no issues whatsoever...in that respect - not crappy
I know what you meant bro, just having a dig LOL :)

People are paying low 20s for Liberty GT's and such, which indicates that a non-turbo Liberty should be several thousands of dollars cheaper in the 2nd hand market.

Everyone low balls cars. It's a known fact that you are supposed to haggle on car prices.

I'm selling the fiancée's corolla sportivo atm, and I spoke to dealers re the price I was asking and they all told me my price was fair, even tho they tried to low ball me $3500 less than my asking price. Eventually I took an offer of $1250 less than I was asking, which I managed to talk up from $2500 less.

I don't even entertain offers from people via SMS or email unless they have come to check the car out.

On the other side of the debate and I am thinking of upgrading. I believe the asking prices are crackpipe.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason for wrx/sti prices.
It appears that some people at pricing high, expecting to be low-balled. While other do a reasonable price but the precedent has already been set by others and are as such low-balled anyway.

Hahaha thats probally because they cant afford to have them or after a quick sale.
No worries, im in no rush, im sure the right buyer will come along, but dont insult someone with a crazy price if your not prepared to pay it!!

Strubaru 07-10-2009 08:49 PM

best thing to do is ask more than your intended sale price, but not so much that you don't get any interest, its a tight balance but has worked most of the time for me

OllieJ 07-10-2009 08:57 PM

My GT's for sale for mid 20's...

Didn't you try low-ball me on my old liberty wagon nick? haha :D
