Angry Facebook privacy

I just happened to check my facebook via iPhone this morning and noticed something that has me pretty worried. For years since I was a teenager I have been cyber stalked by this creepy old guy from the day I joined chat on start.com.au 10 years ago through to msn messenger, hotmail and hi5. For this reason and also due to the profession I'm in (Social Work) when I joined facebook I made sure I had my privacy set so that noone who isn't a friend can see my profile, I don't accept people as friends who I don't know and I don't appear on search So how the heck could this creep find me let alone suddenly appear in my friends list without me ever adding him?

If they have your email or name they can still search you and send you a friend request or an inbox msg... I also for memory remember that if someone sends you a inbox msg then they can view your profile for a month, however it may be different with higher security settings.

Heya

Thats not too good! I'm not sure of the exact reason in your case, however, Stalkerbook does have a number of vulnerabilities and hacks assoicated with it...just try Google to find out how...

I think the best approach it to contact Facebook staff and let them know...else get a P-diddy spam session going...

Unfortunately that's not the case Tim, all they would have to do is create a dummy account and go through the process all over again.

I suggest reporting the guy as mentioned about and changing your password to include CAPITALS, lower case, !*(#*&$, as well as numbers.

As has also been mentioned above there are many exploits available for facebook, and with the vast range of applications popping up everyday you don't really know what details they are phishing from your account and where its being publicised.

Mayhaps it would be easier to just create a new account with a different unique e-mail address, re-routing everyone of value to that and letting the old account sit there as a front?

Besides reporting the user, and using a better structured password there's unfortunately not much you can do.

^^^ Thanks for the advice. Have blocked and removed him as well as changed my email address, password, search setting basically upgraded to the highest possible privacy setting facebook allows. I will also be closing my hotmail account so he can't use that to search for me again.

I find the iPhone Facebook App sometimes says you are 'friends' with people you aren't yet.. Like if you have a pending friend request from him (that you've probably ignored in the past) he will still show up on ur iPhone, and if you add someone, they start to appear on ur news feed on ur iPhone before they have actually accepted you.. I think its a glitch with the app... Hop on the net on a PC and check there, I think you'll find he isn't in ur friends list...

But as Tim said, just block him again to be sure.
