Maybe more of a description of whats going on?

wrxr2d2 21-07-2011 08:51 PM

Hey Bullet
Try the search function. Many people seem to have found they had issues and others are still using there's. Many options and opinions on many topics. Give it a go then maybe ask something more specific.

bullet 21-07-2011 09:01 PM

I wiill have a look in the search
Cheers

Search is long winded and boring, I think it might be better to go back and own a 1980 model commodore that no one would pinch anyway and you could park it anywhere. I think I rip the alarm out and start again.
Cheers

Unfortunately now days they'll break into your garage and steal the socket set as well, no fear for repercussions

+1 for Macy. He replaced my brant system with the Autowatch at the start of the year and I've never looked back.

_daz_ 21-07-2011 11:06 PM

Whatever is going wrong with it, generally cheaper & less of a head f*ck to just bite the bullet and remove the Brant & install, say, an Autowatch system.
In answer to OP, you can get the Brant reset, but from my experience once things start going wrong with the Brant it's basically downhill from there.

Rexxar 22-07-2011 07:26 AM

So much hate for the Brant, tried to resetting it?
I've had no problems in the 4 years I've had mine[knock wood].

BRANT RESET

• You need two people to do this
• Your car battery must be fully charged and in good shape

(1) Disconnect car battery negative terminal for 5 to 6 minutes
(2) Hold down 0 and # at the same time on the keypad and reconnect the battery whilst still holding down
(3) Release 0 and #
(4) Enter 0 four times on keypad
(5) The keypad is now reset to accept your PIN

Cheers thanks for all the info.

RoughStilin 22-07-2011 08:15 AM

Could you post a little more info on what the issue is? I don think you have actually said what the problem is?

bullet 22-07-2011 08:25 AM

Just every now and then you can start the car without the pin code.

RoughStilin 22-07-2011 08:54 AM

Sounds like it is going ito valet mode by itself? How did you find out you could start it without the pin? Would the keypad not take your pin when you tried to enter it?

To put the car in Valet mode, I think you press and hold 1 when you turn the car off. This gives the car 9 or 10 starts without having to enter the pin number. This just saves having to give mechanics etc your pin when you drop the car off to someone.

When the car is in valet mode, I am pretty sure the #1 stays lit all the time with the ignition in the acc position.

I do not think it will let you put your pin in either when in Valet mode.

Does thias sound like anything at all what is happening?

the #1 stays on regardless of ignition position as far as I'm aware

I know this is a bit of a thread mine, but you would have been referred to Action Alarms because they are the company who Subaru used in WA to install and program in the Brant systems. I was working for Action Alarms back then and installed many of them myself (approx 2000/01 - 03/04). I am quite aware of the headaches that the Brant systems have caused for some Subaru owners over the years, and to be honest, was never the biggest fan of them myself. I'd never remember how to program them these days, I remember it being a pain in the arse even back then. I am, however, battling to work out why the Autowatch brand is being praised so much here on PWRX, when there are a couple of other after-market security systems also capable of the same job. If my memory serves correctly, Autowatch do/did offer their own version of the keypad (PIN code) immobilizer that can be added to pretty much any system though and is quite easy to use. I will admit, it has been a couple of years now since I was fully up to date with what's happening in the Car Security industry, so I'm keen to hear/read some responses now from your experiences with these systems. :-)
