I spoke to my brother who lives in Dallas some 100 km from the blast site. He reckons he could feel it and his dog went mental. They are evacuating the burns victims to the hospital he works in and he reckons its bedlam.

Timothy McVee used amonia nitrate in the Oklahoma City Bombing back in the 90's and its a pretty easy process to make big arse bombs so there is some history there. The FBI are on the scene, all roads in and out of West and Waco are closed off with checkpoints and FBI. They are treating like it could be terror related. The plant recently under went mandatory safety checks and was given a clean bill of health. They also noted the biggest risk was a gas leak not explosions......go figure

The gas leak if big enough and confined enough will create an explosion
And if the plant wasn't designed for that a certain explosion, it damage the storage tanks, and once they go, it's just a matter of time when there's a dominoe effect, when the chemicals mix and its a time bomb
Looking at the photos and event time, looks like there was one small explosion followed by several big ones

I'm amazed at the US safety limits for how close residential housing is allowed to be near a plant like that
This makes Texas city like a small incident
