secure subbox

i got a my99 with a single 12" sub sliding around everytime i turn a corner

whats the best way to secure it, while i can still easily take it out when i need some extra boot space?

if i just bolt it down onto the boot floor, (not the spare wheel cover, but the floor just in front of the back seats inside the boot) how deep can the bolt go b4 it'll hit something?

thanks~ :D

Not very far as the fuel tank is located under there.

mine has those lil straps that are bolted to the floor, sits right up against the back seat on the fuel tank side. There great u can snap it in and out no probs, just watch the fuel tank like jonno said ;)

Just use velcro - the sub enclosure sticks to your boot carpet.

strap~ yea.. just gotta figure out the best spot to bolt the straps,

velcro, dun think it'll work on my car, cos the normally my subbox grips the carpet and slides with it, i had to lift up the box, straighten up the carpet and put the sub back in, annoying stuff.

I have the *exact* same problem... carpet just goes with the sub box... :/ lemme know what you end up doing ... :)

Hmm maybe cos I had 2 sub enclosures sitting side by side behind the rear strut towers, the velcro eliminated front/rear sliding, and the rear strut towers prevented them going sideways.

heheh~ best bet is prolly to get 3 more subs and fill up the boot so no room for sliding.
jkjk~

yea, i'll work out something see how it goes

thanks all for your suggestions
appreciated

A bit of a 5 min bodge job that lasted for a damn long time:

Car jack and a few spare textbooks/yellow pages. Either clamp the sub box to the back of the seats by putting the base of the jack on the rear most edge of the boot cavity, or pin the sub to the rear strut tower by clamping against the opposite rear strut tower...

I've done a raised floor in my wrx... will get some photo's this weekend with any luck (house mate is borrowing the car almost the entirity of it all) did a nice dark Green felt finish which matches the colour of the car. The benefit of the fake floor is you can dump a full size mag wheel in there instead of a space saver if need be :D
