Others have used that high temp paint from Repco or what ever, and it looks fine. If you prep the surface properly, give them a good clean, it's easy. I did my brakes on the impreza, I used a matt blue finish, as I didn't want them to stand out that much, just a subtle colour change. I had it done for 6 months or so, and I dont think they appeared to fade or anything, altho I was pretty anal about keeping that car clean, so i probably cleaned them all the time.

No need for photos, I agree with half of what you're saying, Cast alloy brake calipers can be polished. The problem is that standard WRX calipers are cast iron not cast alloy. Iron calipers will rust instantly if not coated with something.

When I was a lot younger I worked for a couple of those bling bling workshops that used to prep their cars for shows etc. I must've painted a ton of calipers etc, the first 10 or so with the usual hi-temp/ brake paint available at Repco and the usual auto stores... this stuff never lasted, and customers always came back with the paint faded, chipped and stained- despite my meticullous preparation and painting. This is when I started using the real stuff and baking it on. Never had any problems after that.

My own 4pot WRX calipers have been taken through this process (done approx 3 years ago!) and the finish is still spotless to this day- aside from 2-3 stone chips which are easily remedied with the touch up paint etc.
I don't clean my car regularly enough, have taken it off road on the occasion and do regular motorsport events (with a ton of heat etc!), so willing to bet they've seen more abuse then most of the more respectable road vehicles owned by you fellas here?

You gotta put some money in to get results, whether this be polishing or painting. Well worth the investment... and is cheaper in the long run.

this might be a good idea if you go down the lines of polishing.

I did my calipers and it wasnt hard at all.

Used a steel wire brush lightly, then sanded it back after spraying brake cleaner on it, washed it with clean water and applied about 3 light coats and 1 final coat. Looks nice and thats just hgih temp red paint from Repco

On the front's you've got SUBARU protruded in steel .. On the rears, SUBARU is on a sticker ..

What did you do with those? Just spray over .. Get a new sticker from somewhere??
