Reverse Scoop for GD's, Interesting.

Don't know if this has been posted before & of no use to me but looks pretty good.

too weird man!!! I'd have to see them in the flesh to be convinced. Weird

Would only work with a FMIC.

How would a TMIC get the air flow it does now with a bonnet scoops facing backwards

I think you've answered your own question :)

Can only use one with a FMIC for sure.

You'd have to be a total tool to use that if you've got a TMIC - Wouldn't be surprised if you blow your motor by putting that on.

Pimpreza 18-09-2007 12:38 AM

Yeah, front mount only, designed to blow cool air on your turbo & suck hot air from the engine bay, more for practicality than looks.

Don't be too sure about this, the vaguaries of air flow and cooling will creep up behind you and roger you hard.

Many race vehicles use the pooling of cold air in front of the wind shield.

Notice that the leading of this is kind of wing shaped which will accelerate the air flow and create a low pressure zone in the recess behind it.

The collection area is physically much greater.

Therefore the resulting cooling air flow could be much greater than the simple forward facing scoop at anything other than maximum speed/max accel.

Don't assume this is inefficient until you have seen wind tunnel evidence.

And BTW think of the reasons for the shape of the WRX/Sti scoops and the intended motorsport purpose for the car, then say 'horses for couses; ten times.

May not be right, but 'til you get the egg in the bottle it's my 5c worth :D

Good reply, i love the way that we all just assume its crap and used for a specific purpose. How many of us here are wind tunnel engineers or someone who specializes in that sorta stuff.

Time to pull out a wind tunnel i say... who's got one? :p

Happy to sit on the fence until proven :)
