Looks good mate. I'm not a big fan of chrome, love dark coloured rims though.
Any reason you chose powder coating over painting as i'm wanting to colour my standard rims black.

Cheers
Scooter

Sorry but I don't like before or after.

Luigi 18-01-2009 07:49 PM

I'm not a fan of chrome either but the black rims now suit the Black Forry.

asian 18-01-2009 10:24 PM

yeh i was over chrome! cbf cleaning em aswel! i was goin to paint them but was scared it mite peel or get scratched off easily. powder coating is thicker apparently. i quite like the finish aswel. depends wats cheaper i guess cos at the end of the day they dont look that much apart!

pimpreza wats ur taste then? gold? wat u rekon i shouldv done?

Pimpreza 19-01-2009 01:02 AM

In all honesty I would have sold them, they look cheap & heavy & from a distance they look just like a set of steelies without hubcaps, just never been a fan of black/dark wheels, maybe a nice set of Liberty GT18's but everyone has different tastes so as long as you are happy that's the main thing.

Also to me weight is a big factor so I've always been a fan of factory wheels, on my Liberty my stock gold 97/99 Wrx wheels weigh about 16kg, The Forrester 16's weigh the same on my project WRX off roader & the really nice looking 18" rims I have on my Bug Eye weigh in at a nice light...."not" 21kg but I'm selling that so I don't care.

But I've gotta say anything is better than chrome so you did well there.

WanaBwRX 19-01-2009 04:50 PM

they look alrite ay but abit dull, woulda gone gold :) love the shine haha. powder coating is the way to go with anything i recon. i was thinking of gettin my CSA's powder coated a goldy colour ay but yer.

Can ya ever go back to chrome with the same rims??

meatbag 19-01-2009 05:06 PM

got any blacker...

asian 19-01-2009 06:13 PM

yehhh i would have cared about the weight if it wasnt my daily! yeh u can go back to chrome but i think its expensive cos they have to redip them OR u can polish them til chrome finish? iv heard of that before..

gorotsuki69 19-01-2009 06:45 PM

post it up on ozfoz.com
there might be a few interested to have a look

Evo2 19-01-2009 07:06 PM

looks alright... A little 'dull' i think....

The shade of black on the rims looks 'duller' than the car.

personally, i would of gone painted to get a nice colour/tone match.

asian 19-01-2009 08:16 PM

will do :)

DEDLYWEPN 19-01-2009 08:23 PM

get tim to throw a coat of clear on for the extra hunge. will give em a nice gloss

asian 19-01-2009 08:29 PM

the colour is different cos its matte black compared to my gold flaked paint!

Makoto 19-01-2009 08:35 PM

additional layer of clear would be sweet

asian 21-01-2009 06:03 PM

yeh i was considering it. but i dont like gloss black without the chrome lip! so it was either matte black rims or buy new ones..and i have no money atm cos i wanna buy sound system!

DEDLYWEPN 21-01-2009 08:09 PM

asian 22-01-2009 06:02 PM

AC Schnitzer 09-02-2009 05:07 PM

Didn't want to start a new thread as it is related.

Quick question,

Is it normal to have deep lines on the diameter of the rims ?

Apparently from what I was told, the line on the diameter of the rims is because the rims were hung using a wire.

Just wondering if any of you who have had their rims powder coated experience the same thing as mine.

Although the lines are covered once the tyres are installed, I am quite concerned as the lines are fairly deep.

Looks GOOD mate.. JDM style..

If you mean the inner section where the tyre covers, then yes.
