How hot do rear brakes get?

Do the rear brakes get anywhere near as hot as the fronts?

I want to paint my rears to match the fronts, but the heat paint colours are very limited.

Can i get away with normal paint?

I had a conversation with MADDOG regarding brake bias percentages. From memory I believe he said the factory 1 pot caliper at the rear does about 30% of the braking, and the discs/pads are smaller so it should lose heat fairly quickly. Can you paint them with high temp paint and then your last few coats in the color of choice? Just thinking maybe because the heat is generated inside the caliper so the outside should be coolest. Sort of but nothing like when you ceramic coat headers etc.....

Like a black VHT undercoat.
I dont think the VHT paint acts as a heat shield like ceramic coat does though.

Looks like it might be a trial and error thing...

i dont think normal paint will work at the rear, Hi temp paint will work but not on the fronts. The paint will just go brown and burn. Mine have gone black at the top of the caliper, fading to a brown and really dark red at the bottom.

Saying that on the street they will be fine...
