Glass cleaner

I need some suggestions on the best way to clean my windscreen. I bought my car from a dealer & it had advertising on the windscreen. Window is clear normally, however now whenever it rains & with light shining on the window you see the imprint of the writing. I've tried different commercial window cleaners as well as metho & newspaper but nothing seems to work.

To get sticky residue off use one with some form of citric in it. "Orange Power" or something like that will get it off without a problem. ;)

eucalyptus oil

New windscreen, sounds like the final clear filament has been etched away by whatever the dealer used to write on the windscreen. Take it back and demand a new one (windscreen that is not a whole car).

Use a really sharp razor. Used to work at a dealership in which used that technique

Try buffing it with a bit of cutting polish or wipe it with some thinners.

Thanks guys. I'll be trying some of your suggestions but if they don't work I'll be doing what autopilot says & taking it back to the dealers for a new screen.

Nail polish remover :)

I ended up getting some cerium oxide (a glass polish used by windscreen places to remove fine marks. Also used by jewellers to remove fine scratches on watch face glass). The screen came up A1 so I used it on the rest of the cars glasswork as well. Now water runs straight off the glass instead of hanging on, similar to the effect you get when you use Rain-X.
