Sub Box

Hey All,

i have an 05 STi, and i have NO idea how to fix the sub box so it doesn't fly around in my boot!

previously i have just put some valcro under the box and sit it on the boot carpet, however in the STi the carpet in the boot is loose and just flys around in the boot with the sub lol

so ideas?

by the way im not really keen on bolting into the actual flooring of the car or custom install e.g. fiberglassing

Thanks!

Get some nice hard type bonding glue.....

Other than that what about bolting to the seat frames (coz ya dont want to bolt it to the floor).....

Couldnt you use some self adhesive velcro to hold the carpet in place, and then do the same to hold sub in position?

mr_psi 08-06-2009 08:29 AM

strap it to the side of the boot.

but where would i glue it? cause it will look kinda funny with no carpet in the boot lol

hmm seat fames, could be an idea but its a pretty heavy sub/sub box, the frames wont get bent or anything will it?

What about some brackets on side of box and just screw into floor??

Either way to make it really secure thats ya best bet.

i straped my subs to my rear stut brace using rope lol

but mine were pretty heavy so half the time is didnt really move.

rear strut brace + motorbike ratchet tie downs ftw, i did this on my forester before i recessed the sub into the rear floor/spare wheel well

Rok Straps, made for the exact purpose of holding a sub enclosure in but also providing simple release. They retail for around the $20 mark.

i had a L7 in my clubspec....was seriously powerful, dynamat is definately required but it fitted perfectly in my boot and didnt move at all, had one screw holding it to the floor....that was in a GC8 but so i guess teh GD boots are different size.

i got told by alberts to dynamat my boot before my spoiler fell off :p

You should use some 2mm aluminum angle and screw it to the parcel shelf.i found that the best.Don't screw into the fuel tank by screwing into the floor.

straps.

i have used rok straps in both of my subaru's... screw one end to box and one end to frame, then tighten. can easily be unlatched etc when you need to get to spare tyre or something, so is quite convenient.

Where does one aquire some rok straps?

PS i tried the velcro thing, including velcroing the carpet to the wooden board underneath. All that happened was the little pins that held the board in place snapped...

i got mine from alberts, if they dont have them they will order them in, in the right size ... wont be worth any more than $25 i reckon... i got my first lot free off a top bloke called mario (not sure which alberts he's at now) and my 2nd ones were round that price i think
