Finishing and painting Rear Spoiler

Hi,
im buying a rear spoiler from a friend for 50 bucks. Its brand new and un painted. Just wondering the best way to sand back and paint?

Its a spoiler from nissan pulsar, but it fits my car on the dot, looks rather neat. Going to Do it gloss black bacause the liberty has abit of black trim around the roof area.

Cheers
Joshua

paint

Rub it back with about 400 grit wet & dry, prime it with about 4 - 5 coats & let that dry for a day, rub that back with 4-600 wet & dry then paint it with at least 6 coats of black & a few of clear ( if you want )then leave it for about a week to dry properly then rub it back with 1500 wet & dry then use a good buffing compound then polish it, but that's if you are using acrylic which is the cheapest option.

Yeah use 360, 400, 600, what you don't want to do is pollish the surface too much in the early stages, need to give the paint something to grip onto, close to 400 is your best bet & yes use it with water.
