Ok since there are a flood of FAKE STi Duracon gear knobs going
around on eBay lately I thought I'd post this up so memebers won't
be duped into paying more than $20 for a fake when they thought it
was genuine.

Fake on the left, real on the right: as you can see the shapes are different, fake ones are wider at the top and have a slightly longer leading edge at the bottom.

fake ones also have a matte finish compared to the genuines gloss finish resin


Ok so that's the differences which are very minor but they come in
a box exactly the same as a real one and they also have on the box
the correct part number from the real ones.

There are also White STi Duracon fakes, STi definately never made this
gear knob in white!

The fakes still look good and do the same job just don't get ripped by paying
anything more than $20 if your going to get one.

Hope this has helped anyone thinking of getting one and the only
place to get genuine ones are from japanparts and another other
reputable jap parts sites plus the real ones are around $70 so they
aren't exactly expensive.

I bought a white faker.. its actually awesome.

I knew it wasn't real due to the price, but as STi didn't make a real white duracon knob, and even an aftermarket (Kartboy or WC Lathewerkz) duracon gear knob was going to cost me a fair packet , I thought I might as well buy the "STi" item. Plus I like the shape.

Cost me $30 landed, it fits absolutely perfectly.

I'm more than happy with it!

Yeah as said there is hardly any difference and they work fine so
for $20-30 it's fine but some sellers are askng $50+ and saying
they're genuine which is not on!

Best and cheapest gearknob I've ever had, it feels fantastic to use and it looks great!

i wouldn't mind a duracon knob either, my genuine leather one weighs too much
