Default Stereo bracket and pocket install into a GC8

Ok so I've finally gone down to the wreckers and picked up a pocket and bracket to fit my stereo inside my GC8 (the last thief took the lot)

However, how do I take off the outskirting that holds the ash tray etc?? I have taken out the ash tray (obviously) but do I also need to take out the cup holder (what about the plastic around the gear stick??)? I've tried several times to take the cup holder off but each time, it's as though I'm going to break it. What's the trick?

Is there anything else I should be made aware of? I really want to get this bracket in ASAP.

Any tips/advice is greatly appreciated.

Jason

I dont think you need to take the cup holder out. Pull out the cup holder and undo the screws inside and then it should all come out (as long as you've taken care of the rest of the screws as well).

Something like that anyway.

If its the clasic shape then the cup holder does not need to be removed.
In fact, trying to remove the cup holder will damage it.

Take the lighter out, then the screws (if any) behind ashtray, then give
facia a firm pull.

i actually took all that out.
No u dont need to take out the cup holder. Also the facias are jsut cliped on. Give it a tug and they will all come out. take out top one out first then take out one around gear stick.
If u still can get it done let me know and ill come out and give u a hand.

My MY95 has four screws surrounding the DIN bays. Two behind the cup holder, two underneath the gear shifter cover.
