Default Black rubber strips on MY99 skirts

Hey all,
I'm losing the crappy aftermarket fibreglass skirts, and am putting the stockers back on.
Just wondering about the little black rubber strip that sits on the top lip of the skirts. Are they needed? Will it be noticeable if I don't put them back on?

Mine are fairly twisted and brittle from sitting in the shed for a few years.

Thoughts?

You'll be able to get away with having them off, looks just as good as with them on.

Here's the difference (wreckers decided not to give me the rubber strip for the back section...)

Thanks Patch.
Doesn't look bad at all.
The other advantage of leaving them off, is that I wont have to bugger around painting them, and trying to get the paint to stick.

Cheers

Does it leave a large gap without? My concern would be collection of various containments between skirt and the sill.

Nah, only about a millimetre or two. They sit reasonably flush, unless that's just how I fitted mine..

The most you'll get is just dust and dirt that can be easily flushed out with a hose.

I didn't even realize they are supposed to be there, mine must have been taken off when the skirts got painted originally, sits fine and no noises when driving.
