Audio Installation Time

Okay,

Exams have just finished, I've had my wrx for about 3/4 months and i've decided that I'm going to get someone to install my audio set up that I took out of my old car.

I've read a few audio threads and people say Marcey at West Side Audio in Cannington is the place to go? The thing is, I live in Mandurah, and I don't mind going to Perth for the day to get a quality installation with no hicups, however, if there is someone in Mandurah is also known for doing good install then I'd probably lean towards seeing them. i.e. Alberts or any1 else within the area.

I messaged a guy who was doing installs on these forums a month or two ago and he said he is too busy with the mines etc. so he wasn;t able to help me out.

And if anyone on the forum will help me out for cash then I may consider it as I have some general knowlodge but not enough to the point where im confident to go ahead and do it with a mate.

Components to install are as follows:

Pioneer splits at the front
JBL 6 inchers at the back
Alpine MRP-F600 amp to power the speakers
JBL 300Wrms sub
Pioneer 300wrms mono block for the sub
Pioneer Deck with ipod connect

I will have the person installing (i.e. West side audio) the system to supply the wiring.

Any suggestions or help will be much appreciated.

And I know people will say "ju'st grab some mates to install it over a day", I'm not confident enough to do that haha.

:)

if you pulled the old system out surely you could put it back into the new car?

I only took the components out, couldn't be effed taking all the wiring out.

Macey is no longer at Westside.

I'd suggest Jason at Free Db in Freo.

Yea just rang Free DB in Fremantle and I've got the car booked in for Thursday, he gave me a price slightly better than the 2 or 3 quotes I received from alberts and another place in Mandurah :)

$500 - $550 including all wiring. Which I know is expensive, but I guess that is what ya pay if I can't be arsed doing it my self haha

Have a chat to the guys at Westside car audio in Cannington, Dragon_wrx on these forums is the installer there now. Did an amazing job on my ride.

My car is booked in on Thursday at Free DB, hopefully all goes well, might chuck some pics up once its done.

Okay, Jason from Free DB installed all my components yesterday and everything turned out very well.

Once everything was installed and the stereo was turned on there was a sharp, constant, sound coming from the speakers. Jason then earthed the RCA leads at the deck. Thankfully this completely eliminated the sharp sound. He thinks it is because I have an alpine amp combined with JBL and Pioneer speakers.

On the downside, as I exited the store I scrapped my front left guard on the kerb (which I didn't see) :( . This also gave my front left wheel some kerb rash :( . It isn't a huge deal but it sucks considering taking care of my car is my priority.

My plan is to fix the guard and wheel asap. (Eventhough it is hardly noticeable from a distance.

Overall I recommend Jason to anyone looking to get a professional to install their stereo.

Thanks Jason :)
