First the number was purely a material cost, from a quick calc. Doesnt include overheads, my time or a small percentage on top of that.
Initially id love to get something going, not for profit just to get a good base, maybe get a know list of parts and get them downpat. I wouldnt scan the items, i model them in a modelling program first then send them to the printer. The one im looking at will fit on my computer table in the corner, it only has a smaller working zone (about half a foot cubed) but larger parts can be made and assembled. Its the material that costs the money I think hard to get small things like push clips and bolt covers as mentioned is a good start to really test the machine and the material capabilities. Id buy the printer right away but im still trying to sort out a license for a modelling program (dont like using fake programs for business means) Here is an idea of what can be made. 3D Printer - The Impossible 3D Print - YouTube |

Is the plastic UV stabalised? I'd hate to see a gauge pod crumble after 6 months of summer sun & heat but sounds like a good idea.

good thinking mate ill have a look at that one, either way it would have to be painted maybe that would help.
Even if i cant get parts like that underway things like clips and stuff should be fine |

Would be keen on getting a rear badge made up if you get things rolling along. Have my eye on one in particular but can't justify paying $80 for it (and it isn't anything complicated either).

Logo on it's own: http://www.freevector.com/site_media...ru-Impreza.jpg Was going to paint it black anyway so lack of chrome is actually a good thing. Last edited by Patch; 25-06-2012 at 05:53 PM. |
