98 impreza steering wheel (non airbag) to a momo (airbag) steering wheel

Hey guys,

Well the new daily has got a fucked steering wheel, and they guy I bought it off gave me the momo (airbag) steering wheel for free.
Been searching everywhere and people are saying they can be swapped. Just no one has made a step by step instruction on how, was wondering if use guys could help me out.
I know the airbag won't be working and it will be illegal blah blah blah.
So any help would be good.

Cheers,
Chris.

Maybe ask here, I remember it being done years ago by one of the regular members but if you took the airbag wheel to a place like JWS they might swap you for the original Nardi or sell you one for $50

Well searched RS liberty forum high and low and couldn't find anything. Might take it to the guy at APart as he claims it fits and just get him to show me how.

It should just be a matter of taking the bag off the wheel (I think it screws on from the back of the wheel) take the padding off yours the same way then undo the nut, unplug the horn then reverse what you did to get the new wheel back on.

I sold a wheel from a 98 WRX with the bag blown but the cover welded and covered to a guy in Canberra to put in his Gen 2 Lib (same column) but it was at least 7yrs ago.

The only problem I can see you having is the horn might need a pin with a spring on it if your car doesn't have it fitted, from memory I had to do it on my conversion years ago.

That's what I would have thought, but the block connector that's is fixed to the clock spring, makes it impossible for the new wheel to go on. Forgot to say the old wheel has cruise control.
