New treads on '10 GT Lib
 

The stock tyres a gone (finally) on the shopping trolley, so Im taking the opportunity to get rid of these 'nightmare to clean 18's'....

Going for these:

I know, I know....cheapish wheels...only a small budget and the goal was to get rid of the stock wheels for something quicker and easier to clean.

The stockers are a 18x7.5, the new ones are 19x8.5 +45.
Tyre size is what I'm not sure of....don't want to roll guards or start changing suspension bits...this car is for the school runs and shopping trolley.
Will 235/40/19 fit without rubbing on that offset or do I need to go back to a 225.

235 is too narrow for an 8.5 rim. 245 is the correct tyre size for that rim.

Agreed, just can't stretch the budget.

I would prefer the 245's but I don't want to deal with any rubbing issues

I have 235's on my 8.5" rims and they have no stretch

What tyre brand? I was going to suggest the OP speak with John Fowler on tyre sizes as some brands are much bigger/smaller than other ie; Yokohama are big tyres.

I have yoko 245's and they are huge compared to the OEM dunflops. They actually looked slightly stretched...

I've also had 235's on a 8.5 rims... and they fit perfectly. That's also how they initially came from the Subaru factory on my old car.

They were Pirelli's originally and then I had Kuhmo KU36's.

After a bit of research on the yank forums etc. I've gone with 235/40/19's....our speedo has always read about 10% higher than we're actually doing so I went the slightly higher profile which will also be more "comfortable" than the 35's.
I'm sure 245 would fit but I'm not prepared for the shit fight if they start scrubbing when the cars loaded.
