Mechanical vs Electronic boost gauge

2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I got an Evo Prosport digital boost gauge to fit in with my colour scheme, but I'm getting conflicting boost levels compared to my mechanical one. The mechanical one is most of the time 5psi higher than the digital one, sometimes coming down to a 2-3psi difference. The highest psi I've reached with the mechanical one is about 14psi, while the digital one struggles to get to 10psi.

Any ideas on how I can figure out which one is more accurate? I know it probably doesn't matter but it really bugs me not knowing. I included a pic describing how I've setup the two gauges and a pic of the two gauges at idle so you can see the difference.

I would think that the mechanical gauge would be more accurate since it's directly attached to the intake mannifold, but I've read in forums that digital gauges are more accurate? Or maybe I just got a faulty boost receiver unit?

It would come to actual sensor quality. U get what u pay for. I put a evo oil pressure gauge in my friends car, compared to defi one, it looks much cheaply made. But if u use them to monitor abnormalities, such as leak, they should be fine.

At present, I have the same SAAS mechanical guage, and also a Turbosmart Eboost Street electronic boost controller and it displays vacuum and boost on its LCD display (worth $500!).

I can tell you that the SAAS guage is bang on with the Turbosmart boost controller.

For my car at idle, the boost controller and SAAS guage both read around -16 to -17.

Maybe this can help determine which one of yours is more accurate at idle.

Yeah I had a feeling the SAAS gauge would be more accurate. Thanks for the info!

I have not looked to see what year / model car you have. But a more accurate way is to done load and set your self up with open tuning format. Here is the link

Looks like the digital is more acurate. You should be getting about -20mmhg at idle.

I could test them both for you if you wanted to take them off for testing. I have high accuracy pressure gauges.
