Default 2015 WRX Paint :(

Hey guys,

What have your experiences been with the paint on 2015s?

I know Subaru are notorious for bad paint, but how easily this scratches really boggles my mind.

I am considering a hard sealant from a detailer after getting the current marks polished out (22ple VX Pro). Which _may_ help with small stuff..

(Also just PSA in case anyone reads this.. if the dealership offers you X pack... stay far away from that junk).

You chose red. Warm colours (orange, yellow, red) are inherently soft and also fade quickest if not looked after and/or spend much of its life outside in the elements. I have a red '08 so I know your pain. Chips very, very easily and swirls marks if you so much as fart in the car's general direction.

Just was it regularly and polish and seal it at least two times a year

I have dealt with white, grey, black, blue, silver and red on subarus. Stay away from blue, red and black if u r concerned with swirl mark and so on. The clear is very soft and paint imperfections shown up easily.

However, u can have a layer of ceramic/nano/diamond coating (silicon diozide), its a add on sacrificial clear coat. Carpro and ctech have been making them for a long time.

If u know u r gonna be careful with ur paint, ie stay away from bore water and avoid driving under bright sunlight with water on the paint (quenching effect). Use minimal amount of car wash. It will make paint protection last much longer.

I've noticed a few small paint chips on the front of mine, highway driving is so hard to avoid.

What I find is worse though are the body mouldings every time you get out of the car you scuff the mouldings.

Cleans off easy enough but looks disgusting

Anyone else have this issue, fixes etc.

Blue's not that bad

It does get some over time but they are easily removed if caught early. I'd be more concerned about small stones vs alloy bonnets
