06 Front Lip

Hi Guys, I'm thinking about getting a front lip like what is being advertised in the for sale section. However my car is lowered, and I'm just wandering whether it would be worth it, or will it just get destroyed? I have lovell's springs in, and I would say it has lowered the car about 2" from standard. Opinions???

I am installing one on my 06 STI this weekend. I have dropped mine about 50 mm in the front as well but think there will still be plenty of clearance. Stay tunded and I will let you know the results.

Hmmm...2"...50mm...then your car is too low....for improved handling it's better not to go much lower than -35mm.

the thread is regarding a front lip not the handling aspects of lowering your car 2 inches

The lip will get hammered, my STi lip already has had a few close encounters with bitumen and my car is only lowered 20mm with the STi springs. In the CPP multistory carpark near Murray & king streets my lip will just hit the ground on the ramps going up levels.

my lip also gets hammered.. on the underside.. Get the orignal plastic sti lip as its more flexible than the aftermarket alternatives..

Do it! - yes it will get hammered, but it will look good. Take care over bumps, humps, ramps & kerbs & it will survive.

If you get the STi lip you can get the rubber skirt which is meant to protect the lip from minor damage. I have one which I yet to install, I ended up paying about $130 thru Japanparts which is pretty much just a rubber strip you could buy from Bunnings/Clark rubber with a bit of adhesive tap and a few screws

Yes of course grasshopper!...but.......
My MY06 is lowered 30-35mm and the front lip does get a bit of a scraping...however, remember you can't compare the MY06 with previous GD models since the MY06 snout is slightly longer (ie distance from front tyre contact to front edge of bumper). Therefore the front will more prone to scraping than a shorter snout (MY02-5)...the point being, if you lower it 50mm then you will have A LOT of problems...lower it 35mm and you will clear most obstacles and you will get.... THE ADDED BONUS....OF....BETTER HANDLING!
