Got a choice between 17 and 18 inch rims for track days. Not sure why I would spend the extra money for 18's besides cosmetics. Any one got any reason why I would buy the 18's over the 17's.

KKR forged aluminium wheel nuts 12x1.25 pitch

A few of us have these, AFAIK all WRX/STi's are M12 with 1.25 pitch thread.
But not 100% sure on the newer models. Can anyone else confirm?

Maybe a little less flex in the smaller side wall on the 18's, and with less rubber may heat quicker, but otherwise cosmetic.

9 out of 10 guys I know use 17's. Including me.
Tyres are cheaper for 17's over 18's as well.

James - if you are going to up rim size, the advantages would be getting a lower offset so the rims fill the guards better, and going an inch up in width for a wider track, but you can do this buying a 17. Personally - I would leave stock rims for track day's and get some 18's for the road

Reason I ask is I've got some coming from Japan along with Rays ones as well and all the suppliers in JP have pics of them that are exactly the same as the first pic.

Cheers

I am not 100% sure if the top ones are fakes or not, but they are a lot cheaper.

It also looks like the top "fake" ones don't have the WORK logo etched on the top of the lut nuts.

Other than that, it's probably just the photo/shot, but the bottom ones look a brighter colour of blue, and seem to be more refined??

Maybe the packaging looks a bit shit?

Interested to know if the top ones are fakes or not - I might be able to tell you tomorrow, and give you a photo of the legit ones, as I have a set of those JDM Concept ones in an airbag to Perth right now.

The legit lock nuts are meant to weigh 19.8grams and the lug nuts are 25.5grams.

Here is a better photo of the first image, so perhaps they are legit, and i got ripped off by 40 bucks :0 bleeehhh.
