starting my speaker box this weeekend..any one got examples and or general help?
 

i got a kicker 12" l7 and i want to build it from the back of my seats to give me more room in the boot. i want it to look stock and be built within the cabin. just want to know of anything that i should do and should not do whilst attempting this..
anyoner got pictures of what theres looks like?

fittin n L7 in a wrx on the back seat isnt goin to look stock to matter what you do. i believe they need quite a big enclosure too?

Tip: Use light wood, i built one about 2 yrs ago and it was verry heavy. also try making the template for the side of the box out of cardboard first if you want a good fit.

well i have the standard kicker enclossure atm.. but it doesnt sit flush with the seats due to the angle, therefore it makes it stick out 20cm more than it should towards the back of the boot. i was thinking of just winging it and using the standard box's port in the new skinnier , but wider box

check the recommended volume for the speaker box as this can effect its sound quality/loudness greatly.

make it as light as possible

face the sub backwards and you will get better bass.

I have tried:

8" bazooka tube mounted directly behind back seat on drivers side with pot pointing to passenger side and this was the most efficient location for this set-up. turning it other directions lost bass.

10" alpine in a ported box (port is vertical) and found the most efficient location was speaker facing bootlid.

2x 10" no brands in a sealed box, most efficient facing backwards (towards bootlid)

I custom made a box a few years back top house the 2 10" and face them towards the back seat. sounded ok, but seats needed to be folded down for maximum bass otherwise it was quite muffled. The box was really heavy and lowered the rear of the car about an inch.

have also tried the 2x10" no names with the alpine in the same box and it was so poor that it lasted less than an hour before I took it out.

all of the above are powered by an old school apline deck 25wx4 and an alpine mrf/v amp rated at 300w max.It's a tiny amp but has never let me down.

large enclosure and big vent... i got one and it pumps... if it aint a large vented inclosure it will sound like terd

I would not just guess at an enclosure size and port length/diameter. Each woofer has different needs in terms of enclosure design and is usually listed on the instructions they come with. As for building it out of "light wood", don't. Enclosure have to be stiff or they start acting like a passive speaker and robbing the woofer of output. If you want a decent enclosure that's light and stiff, fiberglass is the go.
