Default easy iPod integration in MY07 WRX

dunno if any1 knows this?...

The MY07 comes with a double-din kenwood cd/cassette/mp3 player. It looks a bit lame, but actually has decent specs, and... CAN control an iPod.

look for Kenwood "KCA-iP500". ipod interface kit.

it plugs into this deck, into the cd-changer plug. And gives full control over your iPod, FROM the deck... it's like an interface box, with a dock style connector, etc...

I picked mine up yesterday after the subi sales dude told me that you couldnt plug your ipod into the car... HAH!...

I'll have pics and info soon

Are you talking about the STI or the standard WRX that comes with the double-din headunit?

Both the STI & WRX come with Kenwood Double Din stereo. The WRX is a single CD with MP3 and the STI is a 6 Stacker unit. Both come with Radio & Cassette aswell.

be curious how well it works. have a harmon kardon drive and play. Works fairly well but as there is no aux in have to use an fm modulator into the antenna plug. Is ok but no better than the radio.

the double din kenwood has AUX in as well. I believe one of the sets of pre-outs can double as an AUX in...

There's a list of kenwood deck's that this ipod interface will work with, on the kenwood website. (thats how I found out)... the double din kenwood deck in these things is listed under their products too, as a $499 retail product.

should have this fitted up today, will test and report

okay, installed, was very easy, unscrew gear knob, pop out gearknob surround, two screws for stereo/climate facia, remove, 6-screws for kenwood 2-din deck, pulls right out, loads of loom to play with too.

plugged ipod interface into the din-connector, double-sided-tape the ipod interface box to an inner dash plastic, run cable into glove box (or your place of choice), fire it all up.

lets you play by playlist, alb, artist, genre (as per the ipod)... lil joystick up/down is for next artist/alb/playlist/genre... left/right is for skip/forward/back tracks.... works a treat, thumbs up for $130.

i didnt really take pics of the install, it was very straight forward. remove deck, plug cable in, done. 'dongle' sits in the glovebox (or wherever you want) for your iPod.

The 07' doesnt have a 6-stacker stereo, it's a 2-din (double size) head unit, single CD, with cassette. Kenwood DPX-4020 or something along those lines

the deck also has an AUX input, if you dont have an iPod... or dont wanna buy the interface kit, you can still plug your 'whatever' device in..

Just had a look on the Subaru website and saw the Kenwood stereo you are talking about, also says it comes with a subwoofer...where is that located?
