Default DBA Tech: Ferodo Brake and Clutch Fluids

Ferodo offers a wide range of brake fluid solutions, designed to provide you with consistent and reliable performance when you need it most.

Our DOT4 and DOT5.1 specifications are suited for general road use, while our FORMULA and SUPER-FORMULA formulations have been developed for the specialized requirements of motorsport.

Hydraulic brake and clutch systems are only as reliable as the fluid coursing through their veins. So you can be sure it pays to invest in quality fluids designed for your intended application and use.

All Ferodo fluids are of Glycol based ether composition, and are suitable for brake and clutch use.

FBX050 (500 ml)

"Recommended for road use – Brake and clutch"
Low viscosity, low corrosion and low rubber swell
Available in 500ml
Perfectly suited to Car & motorcycle road use, where peak temperatures do not necessitate more expensive products

FBZ100 (1000 ml)

Recommended for road & track use – Brake and clutch
Very low viscosity for ABS / ESP braking systems and low temperature operation
Low corrosion and very low rubber swell
Available in 1000ml

DSF050 (500 ml)

High wet and dry boiling point
Low corrosion and low rubber swell
Low viscosity for a race fluid (falls within DOT 4 road spec allowing road use)

FSF050 (500 ml)

Recommended for race use – Brake and clutch
Market leading high wet and dry boiling point
Very low corrosion, with Mg compatibility additives
Low rubber swell
Super-low viscosity for a high race fluid (falls within DOT 4 road spec allowing road use)
"Super high lubricity reducing clutch wear"

We’ve spoken quite often in the past at length about why it’s essential to choose the right brake pads for your intended application. But one thing enthusiasts often don’t consider is the final piece of the puzzle – choosing an adequate brake fluid to bring the whole braking system together.

Brake temps can soar sky high whenever a car is driven in a spirited manner – whether that be from a simple run through a winding road, to a short sprint event, or even a full race day.

And it’s no surprise that if you’re not fully prepared with the right brake fluid flowing through your system, you’re going to have a bad time, at the worst time possible.

Brake fade is not a good thing to experience, and outright brake failure even more so. By utilizing the correct fluid for the temperatures your brake system will see, you’ll ensure that your brake fluid doesn’t reach boiling point and braking performance will remain optimal during use.

Use the below guide to assess which brake fluid is most suitable for your application. If your brakes are still getting excessively hot even with the highest temperature-rated product, then your braking system is either poorly ducted, or more typically, simply too small and must be upgraded to suit the demands.

For best results, brake fluid should also be re-drained, re-placed and re-bled after each heavy race weekend.
