Default Ecutek retunes ???

I have already had an ecutek reflash done on my jdm 98 ver5 sti type r in the uk.
It now has an open licence.
Does anybody know how much local tuners will charge for a retune (slight tickle) once i get it imported etc ? Or am i better off going for Motec etc and starting fresh ?
Thanks
Andy

If you decide to tweak the EcuTek they will only charge you dyno time. What's the going rates, ~$125/hr ?

The only thing is. I dont think anyone in Perth can do ECUtek on Gc8s. only on 01+ models. AFAIK anyway...

Im not sure what the deal is with retuning gc8 ecuteks. The workshops don't do fresh gc8 ecutek tunes. But they might be able to do a retune. Best call the workshops and ask. When my friend had his gc8 tuned here, he had it done when brett middleton came over for a tuning day.

To my knowledge there has been only one GC8 (MY00 STi) done in Perth and the computer was originally sent to MRT (Sydney) for the re-flash It was tuned in Perth (at MMS) by the MRT tech not long after.
Question is why do you want it re-tuned? Different RON?
I think MMS might be able to do something, but personally I would go Autronic (or MoTec if you want to spend more money for little, if any more, gain)

Unless you plan on running crap fuel. The BP 98 RON will be fine in your ECUTek UK tuned 98 STI. No "tickles available locally" on GC8's.

For a retune if you really want that do what Mister Two said if you want the Best Bang for your Buck on a 98 STI. ie. Power FC.

More expensive Options:
WRXLink G3
Autronic SMC or SM4
Motec M800

Thanks for the replies guys.
The only reason it will require a retune is that i will be putting the cats back on and a quieter exaust and then having it set in a safe (legal) mode for when it goes over the pits.
Im assuming that they will do an emissions test ???????
If im unable to get it retuned i will either go for the autronic or the motec.
Im not a fan of the power fc.
What sort of prices are the autronic and motec ???
They are very expensive at this end and farely limited to the amount of people who can map them too.

NOPE. And you dont have to go back to a cat back exhaust. As long at there is a cat and the system isnt too loud. (over 90db). Get a resonator welded onto the mid section if your worried

Big $$$. Id budget $5K for a brand new motec and tune. Great ECU (the best) but you cant beat the bang for buck Power FC especially for a GC8. Brand new and tuned you can do for around $1500 and the base maps have fairly good idle, cold start etc...
