Ecutek query...again

Sorry to open this again, Can anyone tell me why ecutek is so bad(facts only), it seems to cop a lot of bad mouthing but no explanation.

There has been no fresh posts on this in a long time, is there any new info/experiences out there?

I'm told this is the only way to go for my model without spending a couple of thousand plus $s on a stand alone.

Cheers,

Let the abuse fly!

I can only give you my own experience, which is fact, that is happening right now to my car due to the ECUtek.

The battery was disconnected to start hubby's car (wouldn't jump start), when battery was put back in, the ECUtek wiped all the change points of my Auto, resulting in having to change very slowly manually, to nurse it. Searched and searched for someone to assist, and finally Allstar Garage says they are pretty sure they can fix it, so it is going in next week, to hopefully be fixed.

True story bro.

I have it on my Sti with no issues. A Mate of mine has his B4 with it on for around 8 years with no issues either.
I am in the same boat lots of people told me not to do it, but it was to late I bought it from the dealer with the Ecutek and exhaust already on.

Lol this old chestnut. I'd say EcuTek for 3G and Verso for anything older. I ran my Betty with an EcuTek tune for about a year, drove it hard, absolutely no complaints. Will be getting it on my new car eventually.

The big issue for some is the "locked" ECU after tune.

There is nothing wrong with ECUTek or any of the open source flashing methods.

All the issues you will find lie with the tuner and the method in which they flash to the car. This is why one forum will bat off on open source, another on ECUTek another on standalone and so on. It will depend on what the tuner is most familiar with and how their style of tuning works with the limitations of the ecu.

The software (ECUTek or open source) just allows the tuner to connect to a factory ecu, much like the motec software allows you to connect to a motec ecu, autronic software to autronic ecu etc etc etc.

Ask Jaron what's wrong with ECUtek :P

BOMB3R 15-11-2011 09:39 AM

Everbody is well aware of my love for EcuShit. Others/thousands have had no problems but if you do you may as well just accept they don't give a toss.

Once again this is only my personal experience, I don't speak for others on this forum. I will never endorse this product.
