Hi Guys, I am told you guys are the people to talk to about fitting kits on a HKS SSQV

My car is a 98 wrx (99MY) sedan, how much are they and how long would they take?

Kind regards

Chris

HI Chris,

HKS only sells the vehicle specific adpters with the HKS SQV -- as a whole kit for the GC8.

I will see if I have a kit left over from the HKS GC8 SQV kit which we used the SQV for a front mount install on another GC8.

Will let you know tmr.

Regards.

Hey mate,

you have my highest attention also, i dont own a hks valve however i do own a GFB tms responc and if i have it running atmospheric, im constantly getting backfires and loud ones too... in between shifts up and down.... my tuner said this was ok, but i still worry about it. ive tried everything...tightening the spring, loosening it etc... i rebuilt it last week part for past and there was a sh..load of oil in there which i guess is normal... but what is your opinion on this seen you know abit about it...

vaccuum leak or... on 100% atmospheric my idle was also stumbling on clutch in and stop at the lights... i put the stock one back on but i lose sound obviously and most of all i lose my intake flutter which is awesome btw :P so stock isnt an option

thanks mate.

The backfire is due to unburnt fuel passing through the the exhaust valves and getting onto the hot exhaust system, causing a minor explosion (popping).

Any time the engine allows unburned fuel to pass the combustion cycle without being burnt, the fuel can wash down the cylinder walls and dilude the oil and create more wear on the rings and cylinder walls.

Having a turbo, it can also damage bearing seals within the turbo, damage O2 sensors, catalytec converters, valve seals and even valves and seats if left for a long enough time.

Obviously there is a leak as it stumbles at idle.

In your case, you should use back the standard factory recirculation valve. If you want some noise, then use a proper HKS SQV IV or any other blow-off valves that have a proper R+D.
