Exedy Stage 1 Clutch Kit for Subaru:

Exedy RacingStage 1 Pressure Plate:

Exedy Racing Stage 1 Clutch plate:

Exedy Thrust Bearing:

Exedy Stage 2 Clutch Plate (Note: Rest of parts in the kit are the same as Stage 1 above except for the Clutch plate):

Introducing Exedy Stage 1.5 exclusive to Evolution R in Australia. The Exedy Stage 1.5 comes supplied with an uprated Exedy Pressure Plate, Exedy clutch plate and Exedy thrust bearing. All parts are made in Japan.

-The Exedy Stage 1.5 cushion plate is manufactured in Japan, incorporating both organic and ceramic plates.
-The Exedy Stage 1.5 is a hybrid of Stage 1 + 2, offering a stronger bite than both stages, while being less harsh on the gearbox due to its cushion design.
-This clutch kit offers more relaxed street driving than Stages 2 + 3, and is also suitable both for track and drag use.

The Exedy Stage 1.5 enables the driver to operate the clutch through an easy-to-feel half engagement thanks to the Ultra Fiber friction material all while having a high heat dissipation and torque capacity due to the integrated metal facing. Furthermore, pedal effort has been drastically reduced and improved by the re-engineering and re-designing of the engagement point with newly developed cushioning plates.

Exedy Stage 1.5 is exclusive only to Evolution R in Australia. P.WRX price - $750 supply only or $1150 installed.

We have the new Exedy Stage 3 Clutch Kit for all Subaru STi 6-Spd in stock.
Here is what we call Exedy Racing Stage 3 in Japan. This has a Exedy uprated pressure plate, plus a Exedy Racing ceramic 4-puck clutch plate. Included in the kit is also an Exedy Trust bearing.

Advantages over stage 1: Stage one offers only an organic clutch plate.
Advatages over stage 2: Stage 3 has a beefier 4-puck ceramic plate that will last a whole lot longer and give u the additional bite u need from a single plate clutch.

This clutch kit will not be an overkill. It is suitable for street with occasional track-work. I personally also own a evo 6.5 with a twin plate Exedy fitted and I love it.

Exedy Racing Stage 3 Clutch Kit for Subaru 6-Spd:

Introducing the Exedy Hyper Single Pull Type Clutch Kit including Lightend Flywheel and Thrust Bearing (Avail for Subaru 5-Spd and 6-Spd)
-- P.WRX $1800 installed or $1250 supply.

The EXEDY Hyper Single Clutch has high torque capacity and a special lightweight design to reduce the clutch disc inertia.

LIGHT WEIGHT & LOW INERTIA DESIGN
- High friction coefficient, low wear, and a special heat resistant material (T5001) has been developed enabling clutch size to be reduced and have increased durability.
- Improved durability by strong small damper disc, especially re-designed for hyper single clutch.
- Disc inertia level is less than OEM clutch for improved shift response for fast gear changes, especially in racing applications.

DIAPHRAM SPRING TECHNOLOGY FOR LONG LIFE & HIGH EFFICIENCY
- Leading technology of clutch diaphragm spring and original design superior material using a special heat treatment process, which will result in a high durability level, and prevent heat deflection, loss of clamp load, and heavy pedal effort.
- Long life and improved clutch operation due to original design for hyper single clutch.

STRAP DRIVE TYPE PRESSURE PLATE FUNCTION
- Improved clutch disengagement. (Pressure plate is forcibly separated from facing surface by strap plate)
- Prevent no-disengagement problem caused by the heat deformation of pressure plate.
- Prevent the peculiar rattle noise of lug drive type clutch.

We now stock the 4.86kg Exedy 6-Spd Lightened Flywheel. P.WRX is $585.
Note: The dots on the flywheel are just the reflection from the protective oiled layer on the flywheel.

Thank you once again for your support guys. We have sold out on the stage 3 clutches and new stock will be coming in a week.

Why Exedy?
Exedy is owned by one of Japan's biggest multi-national Companies called Daikin. Yes the same company that manufactures the air conditioners. Daikin produces all the factory clutches for all Japanese car manufacturers, which means that every new factory Jap car that roll out of the dealerships uses its clutches. Therefore, Exedy will have the engineering capability and experience to develop aftermarket performance clutches.

WORD OF ADVICE: Do not compare Exedy with brands like Xtreme and other wanabe brands that the marketing company somehow forget to mention to you that they are in fact made in China. They cushion the clutch plate up for you and trick you into thinking that you have bought a strong clutch with easy driving. You will get a stong clutch with easy driving for a month and then the performance characteristics of that clutch is gone after that. Let's get real, if you want a strong clutch in a high performance car, you must learn to handle the car too. Otherwise, sell the manual and just get an AT.

Stage 3: Recommended for high performance use.
We have fitted the stage 3 on both the 5-sp WRX and 6sp STi.

The stage 3 is a touch and go clutch, which means it requires accurate footwork for both street and race use. This clutch will however require a 2wk bedding period as it has a very tough ceramic clutch plate. This is recommended if you want a true performance clutch that will last and will not burn out like an organic clutch. But be warned, gone are the days of relaxed driving but instead, join the club of true racers.

Stage 1: Recommended for daily driving.
If you are one who doesn't own a 300hp atw rex, who never goes to the drags or circuit and doesn't drive the car hard for more than a minute, use the stage 1 clutch. It is a good heavy duty clutch that will take the occasional 10sec trash from one traffic light to the next. But be warned, it will not survive a good half day at the Kwinana motoplex.

Regards,
Mao

New exedy clutches now have a factory white Exedy printed on the clutch plate due to the emergence of Taiwanese look-a-likes during the past year.

Think you got me wrong Tuna. I meant all my Exedy clutches for GC and GD, which are made in Japan are now in stock.

Yes you are right: Exedy clutches for locally produced cars are made in Australia.

Hi Rossco,

How's things?

That looks like a ceramic cushion button plate. That clutch material can be remoulded if the rest of the plate is still good.

Anyway, will send Exedy an email and see what comes up.

Regards,
Mao

All good my end Mao! (I still haven't had the time to test that maf for you yet)

Yeah that disc is the cushioned ceramic type, I need to source a kit as the diaphram on my current clutch is going over centre at high rpm (causing the pedal to stay on the floor during high rpm shifts).

Add to that that it won't hold anymore than 1.5 bar before it slips.

Note to self: don't buy supposedly 'uprated' clutches from overseas...... Just buy an Exedy kit in the first place!
