I know you are a loyal Subaru staff who have earned my respect here in the forums., but well simply, if Subaru Australia doesnt sell these here in Oz, then I am deamed in no way affecting Subaru Australia as it is just a replacement part, made by the same contractor for Subaru Japan who in turns sell to Subaru Australia.
The only way Subaru Australia wants to come to the party is put them on their stocklist and offer it as a replacement part. These are to be sold to WRP10s only. Each WRP10 does not break the copyright laws when they replace theirs which are uniquely numbered according to their VINS, as they have paid their rights to have it on their cars. |

I think you just answered my concern, being a WRP10 owner, what was to stop someone purchasing these badges and building a faker WRP10 badged with the same number as mine??? I understand that there would obviously be better limited runs to fake, but at the end of the day if you can turn a base model WRX into a limited edition for minimal expenditure and reasonable profit returns there are those out there who will jump on the opportunity. But if you're only selling these badges to the owners of the same VIN as the badge number, that's fair enough, although I don't really see how that particular badge can be damaged & require replacing while the rest of the car remains in an anywhere near repairable condition... Just saying

Fully understand your point of view and agree.
So try understanding mine: First of all, I am not the type to abuse, imitate and do anything to hurt this industry. Second, Evolution R does not need to sell fake badges in quantityto make a living, when we fully own a $130k dyno, $400k building etc blah blah ..... Thirdly and most importantly, I posted this up as I had 2 genuine requests asking me to search for a replacement and hence the post. God knows how they damaged their badge etc (maybe he got hit by another car/ got pinched etc -- I do not know), just doing my job to try and access parts in Japan that are unavailable or too expensive in Australia as per normal and/or at customer's request. I have answered questions from the process of how badges are made, copyright laws and how they damage their badges. Hell, it is just a WRP10 badge for Christ's sake --- what's the big deal? Putting it plain jane and simple: If you have a WRP10 and somehow god forbid, need a replacement badge, send me a PM. Last edited by mao; 12-08-2011 at 12:02 AM. |

I'm not saying the badges you are selling are fake, or questioning the legitimacy or quality of your company. My concern, and query, is what is stopping people from abusing the service you are providing? I for one would be quite pissed off to come across an imitation WRP10 badged the same as my own

Seriously daz of all cars out there to replicate you think they're going to chose a WRP10......
Since it will annoy you so much I'm going to give the guys at Westcoast Customs a call and get some 82 plates made up for my bugeye. Please also try to come to grips with the fact that its a WRP10. Its not a 22B and never will be 'seek psychiatric assistance if necessary'.

WRP10's aren't bugeyes, so knock yourself out
At the end of the day all i was asking is if he was actually screening VIN's or just selling badges to whoever wanted to buy them, plain and simple /end of my interest in this thread
