Just built a new machine for my dad..

Intel core2quad Q9400
Asus P5P43TD-PRO
8GB DDR3 1333 Mhz Kingston RAM

Also added in Asus GF9500GT 1GB Graphics Card and a 1TB hard disk. Machine really flies and works really well for him. His currently going through some of his holiday videos and editing them.

Really quite a nice machine

Im also using a machine with this CPU, Motherboard and Graphics but with
4GB 1666 Mhz RAM. No complaints, runs superfast and has good graphics.

RAM is cheap as chips (excuse the pun)

The min I would be getting is 4GB but you can never have enough RAM.

8GB will need a 64 Bit Windows to access that amount but most hardware and software works on a 64bit environment now days.

yopi 31-08-2009 10:45 PM

I was thinking:

CPU: AMD Phenom II QUAD Core 965
MB: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P AM3 DDR3
VC: Gigabyte GTX 295 1792Mb DDR3 896bit
RAM: 8Gb Triple DDR3 1600 Memory Corsair

Or better but not state of the art.

Great Combo there, Obtain a copy of Windows 7 RTM 64 Bit and your system will run sweet.

Just remember you cannot use SLI with this motherboard as it only supports ATI X-Fire.
