When I was running the Windows 7 x64 BETA I had a lot of trouble finding a decent burning program.
Some x64 vista compatible software would blatantly refuse to install, the ones that did install had lots of quirks - could burn dvds but not cds etc. problem after problem.
I must have tried like 15 different programs, including various versions of nero.

Did they manage to fix these issue with the Release Candidate? Are you guys having any issues burning?

Kato 15-10-2009 03:58 PM

^^ That sound like another issue.

I ran x64 betas with no issues. Current 'windows' software designed for fista or win7 needs to be x86 and x64, so no issues.

x86 will be phased out with this release I think. 128bits Windows 8 please!

To my knowledge, Exchange 2007 is x64 only, Server 2008 and Windows 7 were supposed to be 64 only, but Microsoft chickened out and made 32 bit versions.

If they had stuck to their plan of making all the server editions/business software x64 only, the transition would have been a much smoother process.

They just have to grow some balls and refuse to release new x86 systems, which will force software companies to pull their head out of their anus and create x64 software.

so do i need to get a different version of Microsoft office etc or will my current office 2007 work fine ?

Tommosaurus 15-10-2009 11:21 PM

It's not a true 64bit program, but long story short, yes it will work.

Edit: after reading a bit more, it doesn't say they have actually tested it with windows 7....but I'm still confident.

But isn't Server 2008 R2 x64 only??

Tommosaurus 15-10-2009 11:50 PM

I was under the impression that it was going to be the last 32 bit server OS.
But maybe you're right. I have only seen the x86 beta version, so maybe they didn't actually release it.

werticusness 16-10-2009 01:29 AM

been running nero on xp64 for years

but i see there is a win7 specific version due out today.
