there is no need to set static ip's. unless he forwarding ports. otherwise use dhcp.

can you ping each machine?
|
I couldnt get my machine online after installing 7 last night - modem went red light, wouldnt reset or anything.
finally had to do a hard reset on the rear of modem using xp powered laptop to get back to life. happened like this unplug ethernet to install 7 (didnt want it online it case it picked up my "legit" copy of 7" plug in to lappy use laptop for the 30 minutes or so install needed plug modem back into pc red light |
red light? is it a usb modem?
|
nah ethernet
|
youve lost me tj.
if its ethernet then it should have nothing to do with your computer. if your network card is working correctly (drivers etc) then its plug and play. windows 7 install wont have any change on your modem/router. check that your network card is functioning. |
ahh maybe the install deleted my network card drivers
ill need to download them by the looks of things. |
yeah just get some drivers installed and you should be back on the interwebs.
|
doubt i have any disks from the original machine.. but ill use the lappy to find them.
|
MArk I downloaded latest drivers for lan card from intel even said they were for windows 7
how ever when pc first loads up it still detects those two networks and has no internet connection. Everything else works network related you can print see and access other pcs. just the internet, Disable and enable the card it goes to one network and works fine. |
