Picked myself up a G27 a month ago and have been playing iRacing, Racing Simulator that has many NASCAR and V8 Supercar drivers on it.

Anyone else play this or any other sims?

A mate plays this alot, and has been trying to convince me that its worth a go.

Went around to his place to give it a crack and I was completely addicted! He has a dedicated PC, G27 and 32" LCD with sparco race seat and cockpit set up. I couldnt get over just how good a simulation that it is....unlike the other "real simulator *cough GT5 Cough* "

I only have a Logitech DFGT and my i5/Geforce 9800GT set up but am keen to get a subscription happening and then upgrade from there.

Even just the MX5 cup car was fun :)

Eventually I would love to setup a rig but currently just have my G27 bolted to the desk, running a 32' LCD and my PC isnt anything special.

I was running the MX5 alot for the first few weeks but now racing the Skip Barbers and getting into some Oval racing.

They have some good deals at the moment with 2 months free if you want to test it out

I have a seat/wheel/pedals etc but setup with ps3 and play gt5, f1 2010 and dirt 3 quite a bit. have been looking at iracing though, mainly as i get the impression theres some really good drivers racing online. is it worth getting a PC for?

its totally different to console racing. There are very good drivers on there, as I mentioned shane van gisbergen (v8 supercar) and plenty of Nascar drivers race on here also. If you want to test yourself out and see how good you are this is a great way

general car physics and feel. the tracks are so realistic also, forza is extremely realistic however the tracks in iracing (road atlanta for e.g.) are something else.

also the level of racing is a lot cleaner and more of a challenge. you have a road an oval license (start on rookie), to open better classes of racing you need to get new licenses, these are based on a safety rating, the cleaner you race means you can license up. Unlike console racing where you can have a dick in the race that just wants to smash everyone with no consequences. you will also be given an irating which is a measure of your ability, you will be matched up with people of the equivalent skill.

it is as close to real racing as you will get without the huge $$$ layout

Please do not compare Forca to iRacing. There is no more realistic sim out there. RFactor is the 2nd most realistic, but still in a different league to iRacing.

$12 for 3months is a great deal at the moment

I've been racing in the Nvidia Cup in the MX5s for the past couple of weeks. Cool fun, I'd be keen to see what leagues you guys are getting into and maybe meeting up on line? Always good to have local drivers around you.
