GT5 Online Racing (JAN 5TH - Thurs)

Well as per last week, get on for some fun! There were a number of people here from the last thread who should have their shite sorted for some fun now. If not.. you have 24 hours ;)
Car of the Week is a stock Dodge Viper GTS '99. Do not tune it. You can paint it if you want... you'll find it in the ONLINE Car Dealership, NOT the new car dealership.

GENERAL DETAILS - Racing online from 8:00pm onwards.

Add me to your PSN list. I'm GTP_AussieAlex. Join my room. (see my next post for how to join).
At 8:30-ish we will then join the Antilag guys in MGR's room.
You must add MGR to your friends list. If not, you can't get into his room as it is private.

We do 'Performance Point' races. You can select cars from the 'Recommended' garage, but it's in your advantage to have some cars of your own which you've tuned yourself to get the most performance out of them. Our usual limits for PP is:

> Unmodified/stock NASCARS w/ sports soft tyres
> Any car 550pp* or less w/ racing soft tyres
> Any car 450pp* or less w/ sports soft tyres
> And the usual one-make and shuffle races

We usually have boost on low, so racing is close and if you get punted off big time you'll catch up within a lap.

CONNECTION ISSUES

If you have had problems racing online previously then I'd strongly suggest configuring your PS3 network and router settings. Even if you're connection is for the most part stable, it's still a good idea to apply these measures. They will improve network stability for all your PS3 online games.

Step 1 : Turn off/disable other devices using network bandwidth.
Running your torrent downloads on your PC in the background is not helping.

Step 2 : Set your PS3 to a static IP address using the following step-by-step guide (you may want to leave UPnP enabled though).
Setting a static IP address on the Playstation 3 - PortForward.com
Step 3 : Configure your router to forward the appropriate ports to the PS3 static IP address.
- Select your router from the list on this page...
Port Forwarding Guides Listed by Manufacturer and Model - PortForward.com
- 'Click here to skip this advertisement...' in the top right hand corner of the screen.
- Select 'PlayStation Network' from the list
- Follow the on screen instructions to configure your router

Once you've applied the settings to your router perform an internet connection test from the PS3 Network Settings menu. If you've done everything correctly your Nat Type will be Type 2 - which is good. If you're getting 'Type 3' then go back and make sure you've configured your PS3 and router as per the guides.

OTHER FIXES

If you are still having issues you can Clear GT5's network cache.
You should habitually do this every occasion before an online race night anyway.
Got to:
OPTIONS
scroll down to:
NETWORK
and select:
CLEAR SYSTEM CACHE
