*edit*
The rim width bug has been fixed with patch 1.03 You can also increase rim diameter without breaking the 'tuning prohibited' rule. |
So patch 1.03 is released and in true Polyphony Digital QA style it requires poking with a stick to get it to work:
Known Issue About Update (1.03) - NEWS - gran-turismo.com
Known Issue About Update (1.03) GT6 News We have discovered an issue where some users may experience the following problem during the download of Update (1.03), released on 14 January. Steps to reproduce: 1. When Gran Turismo 6 is launched while connected to PSN, a message will appear on screen informing the users that "the latest update data for this software has been found (Version 1.03)". 2. Once accepted (by pressing the X button while selecting [OK]), a “Please wait...” message will be displayed. After a few seconds, the PlayStation®3 system will emit 3 acoustic signals and restarts automatically. 3. At this point, some users may receive a message stating that the system was not shut down correctly last time. The system will ask then to perform a system file check and then the reboot is completed. 4. Users will be prompted again to download Update 1.03, whether they received the message in step 3 or not. Procedure to avoid this issue: To avoid this issue, please accept to download the Update by selecting [OK] within 2 seconds of its appearance on screen when prompted. This will update the game properly. If you wait longer than 2 seconds, please decline the Update by pressing the Circle button when the message in step 1 is displayed, then select [Back] in the subsequent "Sign-In to PSN" screen. The game will start, quit the game using the PS button while in the [My Home] screen and follow the procedure described above. Note: In step 3 you may also receive a message “Report this problem to Sony Computer Entertainment?”. You can select either [Yes] or [No] to proceed. We deeply apologise for the inconvenience this issue may have caused.
|
Will be opening the lobby around 8:15pm.

You need to get a couple licenses before you can race online.
20 stars (about 6 races) then you can go for a licence. Another 20!starts and you can go for another licence. Then you're sweet. |

Gran Turismo Network Setup
Follow all the steps in this guide to set up your network for playing Gran Turismo (or any PS3 game for that matter). Looks like a lot, but should only take about 10 to 15min to complete. On your PC, Click ‘Start’ In the search box above type: cmd and hit enter A black box will pop-up. In this box type: ipconfig and hit enter This will display your current network settings. The comment you’re looking for is the “Default Gateway” Write this number down. You’ll need it later. Listed as 192.168.1.254 in the example below but yours may be different. Other common examples include 192.168.1.1 and 10.1.1.1 Close the black box. Open your web browser and type your Default Gateway number (that your wrote down) into the address bar. This is the IP address for your router. (eg 192.168.1.254) Enter your routers username and password when prompted. If you do not know your username and password then try here: Router Passwords - PortForward.com Normally, when a device in your home connects to the router for internet access (wired or wireless), the router will assign the connecting device an IP address. The router will also make sure it does not assign an IP address that is already being used by another device on your network. This means the router is running a DHCP server. Look for the DHCP Server option in your routers configuration. May look something like this: In the above example the router’s DHCP server range is 192.168.1.1 up to 192.168.1.40 This means the router can automatically assign up to 40 different IP addresses. This range varies from router to router. We want to make sure we use an IP address for the PS3 that is outside this range. In this example we will use 192.168.1.50 (but any IP address that ends with 41 to 253 will be OK in this example) Look for the DMZ option in your routers configuration. For example; Enter the chosen IP address into the DMZ option (192.168.1.50 in the example) ‘Apply’ or ‘Save’ the changes to your router. Good idea at this point to power cycle the router, log back into it and check the DMZ address setting has been saved. On your PS3 from the main XMB Menu select ‘Settings’ Scroll down and select ‘Network Settings’ Select ‘Internet Connection Settings’ A prompt will appear explaining your need an Ethernet cable connected or wireless available to proceed. Select ‘OK’ Select ‘Custom’ method Chose your connection type. Wired or Wireless Use Ethernet (Wired) if at all possible. Select Manual Settings Select Auto-Detect (Check FAQ at the bottom of more troubleshooting info) Select Manual IP address setting. At this screen you will need to enter the following: IP Address – The IP address you set in the router’s DMZ Subnet Mask – 255.255.255.0 Default Router – The ‘Default Gateway’ IP address you noted early in this guide. Primary DNS – 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS – 8.8.4.4 Select Automatic MTU Select Do Not Use Proxy server (If you are using a proxy, by all means enter the details of course. If you’re not sure if you’re are using a proxy, you probably don’t ;) Select Disable UPnP With DMZ set you don’t need UPnP. So make sure the PS3 doesn’t still try to use it. You should then be shown a summary of your settings. Click X to proceed. Your can now run an internet connection test. (Click x) Your summary should look like this (although connection speeds will vary) That’s it. You should be good to go. FAQ My PS3 still randomly drops out of the game and PlayStation Network (PSN) You may see the notification in the top right of screen pop-up saying you have logged out of PSN, or a message like ‘An Ethernet cable is not connected’. It will also commonly reconnect also most immediately. This is likely due to the console briefly dropping local connectivity between the PS3 and the router. Go through you’re your PS3 network settings again, only this time manually select your Speed and Duplex. Most home networks will be safe with 100BASE-TX Full-Duplex. Why do I need to assign an IP address outside the DHCP server range? Two reasons: 1. Some routers (depending on model or firmware) will not allow traffic to go unimpeded through the DMZ if the IP address is with the DHCP server range. The router may let you set an IP address within the DHCP server range in the DMZ without complaints, but the router (unbeknownst to the user) may not actually apply that rule internally and traffic to the DMZ may be blocked. 2. To ensure it’s impossible for the router to assign another device on your network the same IP address as the one the PS3 will always try to use. What else can I do to improve connection stability - Turn off/disable other network devices. You don't need your Significant Other downloading torrents or streaming video while you're playing. - Upgrade your router firmware. Can assist with resolving router specific bugs. - Power cycle the router immediately before playing online. |
Reminder this is 8:30 tonight.
Noob spec catch mode enabled. |
Not a noob but I suck badly at GT :p I have logged in b4, do I need to go through these steps again?
|
If you've done it before should be fine.
Try disabling UPnP on the ps3 too. |
