Back red light on 06
On the 06 wrx, there is one reverse light and one red light which you can turn on by pressing the button next to the cruise control/fog lights. Does anyone know whats it for ?

Parking light. Mainly for european conditions where there's lots of fog. They'll park with these parking lights on to make vehicles easier to see/make the roads a touch safer.
Correct me if I'm wrong - I think this is what it's for.

Turn it on when a dickhead in his "V8" commodore is up your ass! then drop two gears and smoke him!

I always thought they were the rear foglights. No use to us in Perth. (Unless you are one of those silly Excel drivers who drive everywhere with them on)

I always thought they were reverse lights. You turn them on to luminate the rear even tho they didnt work very well.

Its a parking light, you'll notice its only on the side of the car that would stick out into the road when u parked it.

the picture on the button is the same as the foglight switch, except the beam is drawn horizontal and the foglight switch is on an angle. So i'll go for rear fog light. same as an F1 car =)

It is a rear fog light, it is only on the right side to indicate to drivers behind you in a thick fog that that is the far right of your car, thus being slightly to the left of the light, would mean that you are behind the car infront, not veering over to the otherside of the road...
I use it as a sort of brake light sometimes when cars are tailgating me. Aussie's don't know the difference they just see the red light come on and go, "shit, this cnuts breaking!" Works 9 times out of 10 |
