215/45/r17 is the stock tyre size on GD wrx's. 215 is the most recommended width for a 7" wide rim.
It also looks stupid IMO with tyres that are too wide for a rim. If you want wider tyres, get a wider rim. As many have mentioned, it just gives you sloppy side walls. |

The reason why i think its rubbing is when i turn right there is a scraping noise, but that could be a number of things. Ok, with measuring the rim from where to where to i measure.

usually you would measure the rim from each edge of the bead seat, though it would proberly be easier to check what it says on the wheel, Eg, it will say 17x7.5 or 17x5.5. This may be on the outside of the rim or on the inside (so you may have to take your wheel off)
