Ive heard the Gc8 seats are no good for long distances.

Ive currently got STI GD seats from an 03 model. Quite comfortable. They are wider than gc8 seats and I believe they have better lumbar support. Ive driven in these seats for 3 hours non stop. By the end I only had minimal lower back discomfort.

I love the standard MY00 seat. Perfect fit for me (5'7" and 70KG) The fatherinlaw who is a bit lardy couldn't fit in them real good though. Could possibly do with some lumber adjustment

I found the seats in my old GC8 to be way better than my current Rex support wise, but i did drive the GC8 to Albany once and found that they were uncomfortable after a lengthy trip.

Drove from Cocklebiddy (Middle of F*#ing nowhere) to Adelaide in 12 odd hours (1400KM). GC8 buckets were comfy as. No more whinging.

I'm driving the V5 STi......damn comfy seats. Got mates who are begging for my seats. Although I think I know what you're talking about tho. I've been in a couple of other WRX and the seats do feel a bit harder than what I got in mine.

when i ride shotgun in my friends 99 STi, i feel the seats are a bit tighter(smaller in width) and the lower back bit of the seat does get a bit uncomfortable but still pritty snug and not bad to sit on. This is compared to my 03 WRX, my seats seem more soft, wide and overall more comfortable.

Bugeye seats are the best they made in terms of support (for the twisties) and comfort. I find them a pleasure to drive in, although being a tall guy I tend to get lower back pain like yourself on long trips but this has been the case for any seat, including luxury style liberty seats.

It also comes down to how you set the seat up. Wigga 'sitting next to the rear window and in the rear passengers lap' spec is never going to help. Put the seat more upright and closer to the steering wheel, also raise it up a little. I find this helps on long trips.
